Proofreading
This is the final pass before publication – the last careful check for any lingering errors that may have survived the editing process.

I’ll carefully check for the small details that can be surprisingly easy to miss, even after several rounds of editing. This includes grammar, punctuation, spelling, typos, missing or repeated words, capitalisation, hyphenation and consistency. I’ll also check the formatting, including headings, page numbering, paragraph layout and section breaks, and will fix widows and orphans that may affect the final presentation of your manuscript.
At this stage, the focus is no longer on refining your prose or making editorial changes, but on ensuring that the finished manuscript is clean, consistent, and ready to be read.
Therefore, my proofreading service is only available for manuscripts that have already received a line and copy-edit.
You’ll ideally provide a style sheet from your previous edit, which I’ll follow throughout the proofreading process.
I’ll also identify hooks and highlights you can use for social media marketing.
When proofreading your manuscript in Word, you’ll receive two versions at the end:
Tracked: all changes shown, with comments enabled so you can see exactly what has been amended.
Clean: all changes accepted, with comments removed and the manuscript ready for its final stages of publication.
If you send me a PDF, I’ll use comments to point out any remaining errors, and you’ll be making the corrections in your document.
I’m happy to proofread any fiction genre.
