A critique is ideal if you want substantial editorial insight and a clear sense of what to work on next, but don’t need – or aren’t ready for – detailed feedback attached to individual scenes and passages.
A manuscript critique is a more affordable alternative to a full developmental edit, offering detailed, actionable editorial feedback without the additional cost of having comments added throughout your manuscript.
I’ll take the same careful, big-picture approach to your story, looking at what’s working, what could be strengthened, and where your manuscript has the greatest potential. The aim is to give you a clear understanding of how your story is landing and, most importantly, what you can do to make it stronger.
You’ll receive a comprehensive editorial letter, just as you would with a developmental edit. I’ll explore the strengths of your manuscript, identify areas that may need attention, and provide practical suggestions to guide you through your revisions.
This can include feedback on your story and structure, character and relationship arcs, pacing, point of view, dialogue, emotional payoff, genre and reader expectations, and the finer aspects of your writing and storytelling.

I’ll also consider areas such as clichés and imagery, showing and telling, representation and sensitive content, and anything else that stands out during my reading.
If you have particular concerns or questions about your manuscript, I’m very happy to take those into account and make sure the critique addresses the areas where you most want guidance.​

You’ll also receive a separate document containing hooks and highlights you can use for creating social media content.
