On a Personal Note: Where Did August Go?

The end of August has snuck up on me, not gonna lie. I thought I had sooo much more time before the end of the month, and yet here we are.

I desperately wanted to finish the line and copy-editing course by Liminal Pages this month, but between heatwaves, migraines, and running an editing business, I didn’t make enoug time for it.

I’ll finish it in September. Promise. This is my accountability post.

I did manage to watch The Anatomy of a Writing Coaching Session by The Coaching Compass, though!

I’ve been working on a romantasy, and otherwise, it’s been relatively quiet, which is really not untypical if you’re just starting out as a romance editor, but nevertheless nerve-wracking at times. I have more projects lined up for autumn, so it’s not all doom & gloom, I try to remind myself.

I’ve contacted someone to create social media templates for me. It’s a bit embarrassing to admit that I’m not going to learn how to do it myself (not yet, anyway), and there’s also a certain element of pride in doing everything yourself. But I think this will be a worthy investment in my business, because my designs are all over the place and often very amateurish-looking.

My hope is that this will save me hundreds of hours going forwards. I’ll keep you posted.

From Blood and Ash was a surprise. I’ve no idea why I’ve not read this series earlier, I totally should have.

Stop Letting Everything Affect You felt like a hug I didn’t know I needed. It’s a very kind book, and I’m glad I gave it a listen. The only downside to listening to audiobooks instead of reading is that I really like to highlight text. Passages I really liked and want to remember. Whilst I have a very good memory, it is not word for word. I usually listen to audiobooks when I’m out and about, or while doing chores, so I don’t always think to rewind and jot something down.

I was very excited about the release of Sinister, but my local Waterstones didn’t have a copy, which was a bit disappointing. (They did have Fairydale on their shelves!) So I’ve read it on KU instead. I’ll buy a copy for my trophy shelf later.

I don’t want to say too much yet, as I suspect that many are still reading, perhaps? I did not go into the direction I thought it would, but I liked it nonetheless. I think Veronica will forever be one of my go-to authors.
